this was just something I was playing arround with, I've been thinking about making some note cards from it.
this is an older one, collage on canvas, the heart is done from love poems that have been torn up and glued to a heavier paper than painted with a red glaze. the words on thw heart were done with tile shaped beads. then attached using metal wire, so the float a little.
I like this piece alot but at the same time I'm seeing ways in which I could have done it differently. So last nite I started to do another version of it, and this morning I did some more, work only to fall in love with the background I created and the thought of covering it up bothers me. So I am not sure what to do now.
I've been thinking about going and getting a color copy made of the background and using that for my collage and finding a board to glue it to. I guess once it dries I will have to make a decision.
I'll try to post a photo of the background later.
Another mixed media, painting. The cloud was done with mulberry paper than painted white, there are some under-lying colors. The hearts are made from paper and are attached using a thin gage wire, which I twisted to help thicken up and make the more stable.
I played with the paint colors a few times, which I wish I hadn't because a previous "version" of the "sky" worked much better.
I'm just starting to get back into painting, and the collage art has captured my imagination, so I've just started to explore this futher as well.
Most of my past art experience has been in clay or working with metal in jewerly making classes. I've never done any beading or that type of jewerly. I've mostly made rings that have stones set in them.
So I was just playing around and seeing how I could mix up the blue paint one this canvas and then decided to had the red paint, which I also mixed with white to see what would happen. It red section ended up looking a lot like an evening gown so I decided to use the photo of the woman, even though her arm is missing, it was a great exercise. I'm tempted to see I can find her some arms. It still feels incomplete, so I will probably add some more to it.
